What the research suggests

A 2019 review says beer's polyphenols and hop compounds, not its alcohol, probably explain most benefits seen with moderate beer drinking. In the Be-MaGIC trial, 277 marathon runners who drank non-alcoholic beer had less inflammation and 3.25 times fewer colds after the race. A small study of 17 nurses found 0.0% beer at supper helped them fall asleep faster. These are early findings, not medical advice.
